The Orbicul Model: Four Layers, Eight Domains Explained

Orbicul scores every company on four layers, financial performance (are we on track), strategic direction (what are we doing about it), risk & opportunity (what's coming), and ESG & sustainability (are we investable long-term), across eight business domains: Market Reality, Growth Engine, Value Delivery, Customer Lifetime, Operational Performance, Human & Machine, External Leverage, and Innovation Engine. The combination of layers and domains is what lets the model produce a real-time valuation, a valuation bridge, a multiple prediction, and early signal, rather than just a financial snapshot.

The four layers and the question each one answers

LayerQuestion it answers
Financial PerformanceAre we on track against our own trajectory
Strategic DirectionWhat are we doing about it
Risk & OpportunityWhat's coming before it hits the numbers
ESG & SustainabilityAre we investable long-term

Why four layers instead of just financial performance

Financial performance tells you whether you're on track against your own trajectory, it says nothing about why, what's coming, or whether the company is positioned to still be attractive at exit. The other three layers exist specifically to answer those three different questions, which a purely financial report structurally cannot.

Why eight domains and not a simpler scorecard

Eight domains is enough to cover the whole business without collapsing distinct value drivers into vague catch-all categories. Customer Lifetime and External Leverage, for instance, measure genuinely different things, combining them into one "customer" score would hide exactly the kind of signal the model is built to surface.

How the layers and domains combine into the four outputs

Each domain gets scored across all four layers, and the valuation bridge shows which specific domain-layer combination is currently adding or blocking value, which is what makes it possible to say not just "value is at risk" but exactly where and why.

One Model. Every Portfolio Company. The Same Definitions.

Orbicul turns EBITDA-era portfolio reporting into a real-time valuation model, 4 layers, 8 domains, portfolio-wide, so you see where value is created or blocked before it shows up in the numbers.
